Things that save us...

“Sometimes it is the smallest thing that saves us: the weather growing cold, a child’s smile, and a cup of excellent coffee.”

- Jonathan Carroll

Sometimes I think it is just being open enough to see what is right in front of us, right this very second.  I saw this as I was driving home yesterday and made the time to stop and snap some photos to edit later. I was preoccupied with other things, thoughts pinging back and forth through my brain, and something in me recognized this for what it was - beauty, beauty right in front of me. I had a choice, to keep driving, or stop the damn car and get out and really see it. I stopped the car. I'm glad I did.

It's the little moments like this, moments of happiness, they all add up to make a happy life.

You are so sweet. I am trying to be better at stopping the car, because often I notice things and think they would make a nice photograph, or want to get a closer look, but keep driving. I'm never sorry when I stop the car...
